Two adults and a baby died in a head-on crash Saturday night on Rt. 539 in Little Egg Harbor, and two others are in critical condition.

The Asbury Park Press quotes a tweet from Al Della Fave, the spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's office saying Shannon Tomkins, 27, of Tuckerton and her 6-month-old baby died after Tompkins crossed the center line and collided with a Honda CRV Saturday at 8:53pm.

According to Della Fave, Tomkins was traveling with her two children when her eastbound Mercury failed to maintain its lane and crossed over the center line into the westbound lane. There, it collided with the CRV, he said.

Tomkins died at the scene, and her 6-month-old daughter was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Stafford, where she later died, he said.

The Tuckerton woman's 5-year-old son, who was also in the car, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition, Della Fave said.

The crash happened just west of North Shore Drive. The driver of the Honda, Nora Magnani, 67 of Langhorne, Pa., was also killed in the crash.

Magnani's passenger, Andrea Pallanollo, 65, of Langhorne is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
